What is a Wireless Digital TV?
A wireless digital TV is a high-definition television (HDTV) that receives audio-video signals wirelessly from a remote transmitting unit. The only wire attached to the TV is the power cord.
While conventional home entertainment centers take advantage of the latest technologies to bring us unparalleled excellence in picture and surround sound audio, cabling remains the bane of every setup. HDMI or component video cable must run from the big screen TV to the receiver. If component cable is used, it requires separate RCA audio cables. Depending on the setup, secondary components might also plug directly into the television’s inputs. All of this wiring is not only inconvenient but unsightly.
It is especially hard to hide wires coming off a wall-mounted HDTV. Some people opt to channel cabling through the wall, exiting at the receiver. Others buy a wall unit, mounting the TV inside the unit and running wires behind it to the receiver sitting on a shelf below. But now there’s another choice. Now you can eliminate all but the power cord, and mount your television wherever you like, unconstrained by cabling.
Radio waves are an invisible form of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) that varies in wavelength from around 0.04 inches (one millimeter) to over 62, 000 miles (100, 000 km), making it one of the widest ranges in the electromagnetic spectrum. "Radio" is a catch-all term describing all forms of EMR with a wavelength longer than 0.04 inches (one millimeter) and a frequency below 300 GHz. It is generated by the movement of electric charge, which can result from an electric current or from the random motion of atoms and molecules. This form of EMR is crucial to human communications, and is used for television, radio and mobile phones, as well as in radar and astronomy.

    How Radio Waves are Produced
All electromagnetic radiation can be regarded as waves that undulate through an electromagnetic field, like ripples in a pond. They are produced when an electrically charged particle, usually an electron, changes its speed or direction of motion. This can happen in a number of ways, such as heating of atoms and molecules, and changes in the energy levels of electrons; the waves generated by radio transmitters result from the flow of electric current. The frequency and wavelength depend on the amount of energy involved, with higher frequencies and shorter wavelengths indicating higher energies. If the energy change is relatively small, radio waves may be produced.

    What are Wired Communications?
Wired communications is a broad term that is used to describe any type of communication process that relies on the direct use of cables and wiring to transmit audio and visual data. A classic example of wired communications is the traditional home telephone that is connected to the local telephone switch via wires that are ran from the home to the switch. While wireless communication solutions have become more common in recent years, the use of wired services remains common and is not likely to disappear in the near future.
Local telephone networks often form the basis for wired communications that are used by both residential and business customers in the area. Most of the networks today rely on the use of fiber-optic communication technology as a means of providing clear signaling for both inbound and outbound transmissions. Fiber optics are capable of accommodating far more signals than the older copper wiring used in generations past, while still maintaining the integrity of the signal over longer distances.
Internet access from desktop computer systems is also a common example of modern wired communications. In fact, telephone service providers often utilize the same wiring to provide both high speed Internet solutions and basic telephone services to residential and business customers. Depending on the nature of the connection, this may require using wiring and cables that have a higher capacity than standard wires. Some system designs need nothing more than the addition of filtering devices that effectively split the signal to allow a single outlet to provide connectivity to both the audio phone network and the Internet.
Cable television is also classified as wired communications. Cable is run into each home and connected to one or more television sets. The same cable is connected with the cable network, making it possible to activate the connection and allow both audio and visual transmissions to be received. This is in contrast to traditional broadcasts that rely on over the air transmissions that must be picked up by a receiver and converted into sound and images that the reception device can process.
In general, wired communications are considered to be the most stable of all types of communications services. They are relatively impervious to adverse weather conditions when compared to wireless solutions. With some forms of wired services, the strength and speed of the transmission is superior to other solutions, such as satellite or microwave transmissions. These characteristics have allowed wired communications to remain popular, even as wireless solutions have continued to advance.

What is a 900 MHz Wireless Transmission?
A 900 MHz wireless transmission is a radio transmission at a frequency very close to 900 megahertz (MHz). These signals, which generally measure between 902 and 928 MHz, fall within the ultra-high-frequency radio wave band. This bandwidth is allocated to civilian unrestricted use in most countries and is often employed to provide wireless connectivity for small electronic devices, such as speakers or phones.
Radio signals occupy one portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. They are measured and rated based on the frequency with which waves propagate through space. One hertz is defined as one wave per second. Thus, a 900 MHz wireless transmission produces roughly 900, 000, 000 waves per second.
Most governments regulate the usage of the electromagnetic spectrum. This is done to ensure the most efficient use of bandwidth, a scare resource, and to guarantee that critical radio signals are not subject to interference from other radio users. 900 MHz wireless transmissions are generally relegated to the civilian sphere and, as such, can be used with few or no restrictions. In the United States, this bandwidth is allocated to amateur, advanced, general, and technical users.
Radio waves with different frequencies behave in particular ways when they interact with the environment. Signals in this specific range tend to travel relatively poorly through physical obstructions and do not often bounce off of either objects or the atmosphere. This property means that a 900 MHz wireless signal will not travel far through walls or other obstacles, making this type of signal a good choice for a variety of home electronics applications, as it is generally best if the signals from such devices do not transmit clearly into many neighboring homes.
Cordless phones are often manufactured to produce 900 MHz wireless signals. The limited range and generally good signal strength associated with this band make it an excellent choice for this application. It is relatively difficult to intercept the signal from cordless phones operating in this band, and breaking up their digital signals into multiple portions may further complicate the process of signal interception, offering excellent privacy. Some walkie-talkies use this frequency range as well, taking advantage of its relatively large size to offer many channels and good privacy features, in much the same manner as phones.
Many small household electronic items employ 900 MHz wireless transmissions. Wireless speakerscan be located anywhere in a typical house and receive their input through radio waves, allowing cords to be dispensed with entirely. 900 MHz headphones that work in the same fashion are also available.
